Computer Department

The computer department at the institute is one of the most sophisticated and modern departments in this part of the country. It is equipped with a hardware, software and networking unit. The department is tasked with the following functions:

  • Maintenance of network: CIP has an exhaustive Fiber Optic Network with Wi-Fi access across the Institute’s premises which connects the entire Institute and enables internet activities and information to be made available for all the departments including postgraduate hostels;
  • Internet Management: Two high speed leased lines (200 Mbps from BSNL and 100 Mbps from Rail Tel) are available at CIP;
  • National Knowledge Network (NKN) 100Mbps dedicated line to connect with all major educational institute of India for research and academic purposes;
  • Closed circuit (CCTV) monitoring;
  • Education Programs: Conduction of programs like Continuing Medical Education (CME) and Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) involve preparation of audio-visual material in the computer department;
  • Research activities: Preparation of protocols of research, data sheets, manuscripts for publication, transparencies, slides and power-point presentations and analyses of data occur at the department;
  • Software management: To ensure proper installation and working of all the existing software at the Institute;
  • CIP Website: The computer department ensures the maintenance and up-gradation of the Institue website regularly to provide the latest information on the web and to avoid RTI violations;
  • The department aims to provide statistical consultation and service to researchers including the development of study designs and protocols for hospital and community-based studies. It imparts training and academic teaching in biostatistical, computational and research methods, including training in statistical computing, use of statistical packages like SPSS, R etc. The department is also involved in the application of biostatistical methods and the application of computer-oriented statistical procedures to analyze data pertaining to mental health and neurosciences. Moreover, it aims to coordinate and standardize the collection of medical statistics and other relevant information at the Institute.
